A man from the Saint John area has been charged in an ongoing sexual assault investigation dating back nearly 30 years.

Mounties received a report in October of alleged sexual assault incidents involving a Kennebcasis Valley business owner between 1993 and 1994.

A 51-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation on Nov. 1, RCMP said in a news release on Thursday.

Peter Edward Casey was charged with sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault, assault and uttering threats on Nov. 29. He was released on conditions with a January court date.

RCMP Sgt. Luc Samson said investigators are working to determine if there were other victims.

“We want people to know that there is no statute of limitations on reports of sexual assault, and a report can be made at any time no matter how far back the assault occurred,” Samson said in the release.

Any victims or people with information about these incidents are asked to contact Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
