Starting early next summer, Haligonians can hop a flight to Quebec City for less than $50.

Discount airline Flair announced on November 29 it will start flying between the two cities in July, offering tickets at bargain-bin prices.

Flair’s Halifax-to-Quebec flight is part of a selection of new routes the airline will offer out of Jean Lesage International Airport this summer, including a flight to Edmonton.

Those flights make Flair the first ultra-low-cost airline to operate out of the Quebec City airport

Flairs’ service between Halifax and Quebec will start on July 6. It will run three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, over the summer.

One-way fares, including taxes and fees, will begin at $49.

The airline hasn’t confirmed if or when the service will stop but it’s common for these types of routes to stay operational only during peak travel months.

The Halifax Stanfield International Airport has been slowly rebuilding its flight schedule since the Covid-19 pandemic all but wiped it out in 2020.

The airport got close to its pre-Covid flight numbers this summer but is still looking to bring back all the flights it lost.

In October, an important flight returned when Air Canada announced non-stop service between Halifax and New York.
