Man Charged In Public Works Break-In, Theft

A 40-year-old man has been charged following a break, enter and theft from the Public Works Operations Centre in Riverview at 300 Robertson Street.

Codiac RCMP believe the incident occurred on November 12 between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Police say nearly $500,000 worth of items were stolen including tools, generators and vehicles – several items were recovered later the same day.

On Monday, police arrested a man in connection with the investigation.

Daniel Patrick Whalen of Moncton appeared in court via tele-remand and was charged with:

  • Two counts of theft of a motor vehicle
  • Break and enter with intent
  • Operating a motor vehicle while suspended

He was remanded into custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to return to court on Thursday (December 1).
