Gold Search Continues at Mine Centre

By Randy Thoms Nov 29, 2022 | 9:42 AM

There will be continued exploration around a historic gold mine property east of Fort Frances.

Q-Gold Resources says it has received an exploration permit, allowing it to begin drilling on its Mine Centre property.

The company wants to focus on known mineralized areas previously mined at the former Foley mine in the early 1900s.

“We have keenly awaited the exploration permit to initiate the follow-up drilling to our successful 2021 campaign,” comments Dr. Andreas Rompel, Chief Executive Officer, in a release, “and are ready in the field to commence this new phase of exploration.”

Q-Gold holds over 10,000 acres of mining claims, Crown leases and leasehold patents within the former gold camp.

The mine operated between the 1890s and 1927, producing more than 16 thousand ounces of gold before ending operations due to the onset of the Great Depression.
