Extensive damage to a two-storey semi-detached home on Lancefield Crescent in Moncton’s Berry Mills Heights neighbourhood.

Acting Platoon Chief Paul MacFadyen says the fire started on the back patio at around 8 pm Monday night.

It quickly spread up the siding on the back of the residence.

MacFadyen says firefighters were on the scene for around an hour

There is significant smoke and fire damage, especially to the exterior.

The Canadian Red Cross says at least two people have been displaced and have been provided emergency lodging and meals.

Meantime, the Red Cross also arranged similar help for five people who were forced to evacuate from their home on Monday morning due to major water and other damage.

This was caused by a burst pipe in the rural community of Prosser Brook, in Albert County.
