Adult and Teen Challenge Expanding Once Again

By Adam Riley Nov 24, 2022 | 8:10 PM

For years Adult and Teen Challenge has been working to improve the lives of those who need help.

Most recently the organization opened up both a men’s and women’s shelter capable of housing up to 24 people at one time to get them back on their feet. However the they have only been able to help clients tackle issues over the course of a longer period of time, but this weekend that will be changing with the grand opening of Adult and Teen Challenge’s new community office.

Development Director Terrence McKenzie says the new boardroom and in house ministry will be an asset to help those those working to beat addiction.

“We’ll have support groups that meet every week, concerned persons group, ready now recovery, there’s going to be eventually one-on-one counselling and then also referral services. So someone comes to us looking for help and we’re going to try to make sure they get the help they need specifically.”

McKenzie believes this latest expansion is the next logical step for Adult and Teen Challenge, noting there are still many other opportunities for them to try to help in different areas where they currently do not offer assistance. Such as programs that can last anywhere from sixty to ninety days that will allow someone to come for the short term to get clean, sober and back on their feet.

The grand opening of the new office is slated to take place this weekend at 107 Johnson Street starting at noon.
