Salvation Army Says Demand Great For Christmas Hampers

By Tim Davidson Nov 24, 2022 | 8:56 AM

The Salvation Army says the need this year for their Christmas Hampers is just as just as high as last year.

Sandra Poole is the Community Ministries Director and says they will complete their appointments for the hampers next week.

“The demand for the Christmas Hampers is pretty much on a par with last year right now…we still have a week to go,” says Poole.

“We’ve processed, as of Wednesday morning, 165 application and I’m still waiting on one of the agencies to give me their numbers.  By the time all is said and done we’ll up around 250.”

Poole adds the Miracle Marathon tomorrow and Saturday helps fill that need.

“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year and the community, and every year never ceases to blow my mind.  We live in such a giving community and the support from 89.5 The Lake and the Miracle Marathon, I don’t know where we’d be.”

Poole says the demand for their food bank this year has also been high with all their availabilities spoken for.
