Thunder Bay City Hall Sign - Acadia Broadcasting Files

The results from a special election held for the English Separate School Board are in and has all five incumbents and one new comer as the winners.

Dina McFarlane      – 4,866 Incumbent
Francis Veneruz      – 4,864 Incumbent
Lean Fonso               – 4,728
Lawrence Badanai  – 3,957 Incumbent
Tony Romeo            – 3,763 Incumbent
Eleanor Ashe           – 3,739 Incumbent

The election was held as a result of an issue which cropped up on election night and caused the Declaration of an Emergency in Shuniah, which flowed over to Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay City Clerk Krista Power says the quick actions that night saved and protected 19,000 ballots within the City of Thunder Bay and as a result did not require those voters to have to return to the polls.

Only residents in Shuniah were required to return to the polls once again, specifically the ones who registered in the English Separate School Board, that race ran from November 7th until November 21st and results were tabulated and combined with the protected results from Thunder Bay and the other surrounding communities.
