Lumina Night Walk Coming Next Summer

By Allan Dearing Nov 21, 2022 | 5:48 PM

Le Pays de la Sagouine in Bouctouche is taking a new approach to its storytelling next summer and has announced plans for a Lumina Night Walk.

Created by the Montreal-based multimedia studio Moment Factory, the immersive experience will be in the form of a footpath and will be the first in Atlantic Canada.

“The creation of a Lumina Night Walk at Le Pays de la Sagouine constitutes the first step of a large-scale project that will help pave the way for the next 30 years,” said executive codirector Monique Poirier.

“The Lumina Night Walk will be a new way of practicing the art of storytelling and as it is done with very few words, we hope to attract a larger and more diverse clientele.”

This project is made possible by funding from the federal and provincial governments last summer.

Poirier said this experience is the first of many projects coming from this funding which will ensure the Pays’ future as a tourism destination.

What is a Lumina Night Walk?

Lumina Night Walks are unique adventures which engage participants in a narrative experience that combines light, projections, special effects, sound and original music.

Le Pays de la Sagouine Lumina Night Walk will be inspired by the Acadian culture, stories and the region’s iconic landscapes.

Acadian artists and artisans will be working hand in hand with the teams at Le Pays de la Sagouine and Moment Factory in the coming months.

The Lumina Night Walk will follow a 1.5 km footpath in the wooded area on the mainland and will be accessible to the public after nightfall.

The attraction noted this addition will extend its season from mid-May to mid-October.
