Dilico Announces Start of Christmas Wish Campaign

By Katie Nicholls Nov 19, 2022 | 6:00 AM

Every year Dilico Anishinabek Family Care asks the Thunder Bay community for help in making Christmas special for kids across the region.

This year is no different other than the need has increased.

Last year, Dilico was able to fill and hand out 700 bags to children in need in the community. This year they are raising that goal to 800 bags.

The red reusable totes can be picked up at four locations;

  • Dilico Anishinabek Family Care
  • Firedog Communications
  • Starbucks on Arthur St
  • Starbucks @ Thunder Centre

Each bag is assigned a child in the community. There will be lists of items needed as well as some they are hoping to receive for Christmas.

A new feature this year is the book that Dilico wrote and published called “How I Found My Voice”. It’s a story about an Indigenous person as they search for their voice and the courage to speak up. The book is $15, and can be added to the bag as well.

Bags are available now for pickup, but must be returned to Dilico by Dec. 5.
