The RCMP have released more details about a fatal house fire in Upper Wedgeport.

We now know a 73-year-old woman has died as a result of the fire at a home on Boudreau Road.

Yarmouth Rural RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to the fire around 8:40 a.m. yesterday.

The woman had been located inside the home by the first people on scene but she was unconscious after she was removed.

Paramedics with EHS took over care, however the woman could not be resuscitated and was pronounced deceased.

After extinguishing the fire, investigators found it was caused by an electric power tool spontaneously catching fire.

Police say the fire is not suspicious and the investigation has been closed.
