The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore has announced that they’ve increased it’s Brighter Days Campaign fundraising goal in response to overwhelming support early on.

The fundraising campaign has already exceeded its initial $6.6 million target, which was set at the outset of the pandemic.

That goal has now been increased to $9.5 million.

The Health Services Foundation explained its decision in a release, saying-“funds raised and pledged by donors have surpassed the $7.3M mark, demonstrating the high priority that the community places on securing the latest in medical technology and equipment as part of the Province’s $115.7M expansion and redevelopment of the South Shore Regional Hospital,”.

The Brighter Days Campaign has already secured three separate donor commitments of $1 million, including the recently announced investment by the J & W Murphy Foundation aimed at encouraging donations by the community at large.

The additional funding expected to be generated by the increased fundraising goal is intended to go towards purchasing new equipment and technology for the five departments that will be the main beneficiaries of the hospital redevelopment which include; Emergency, Dialysis, Diagnostic Imaging, Endoscopy and Day Surgery.

Info on how to support the Brighter Days Campaign can be found on the Health Services Foundation website.
