The provincial government says it has chopped almost $7 billion from it’s deficit.

Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy released the numbers in the fall economic statement.

“Ontario’s projected deficit in 2022-2023 is $12.9 billion, which is an improvement of $6.9 billion from from the 2022 budget,” Bethlenfalvy told the Ontario Legislature Monday afternoon.

There were also a few goodies including in the fall economic statement, including the Ontario Disability Support Program.

“That’s why we are proposing to increase the amount a person on the Ontario Disability Support Program, also known as ODSP, that they can earn from $200 to $1,000 support per month.”

There is also more money for low income seniors with a doubling the Guaranteed Annual Income System payment for one year, beginning in January.

Bethlenfalvy says that will mean about $1,000 extra per year.

He also increased funding for training by $40 million for the Skills Development Fund and more businesses will be eligible for the Small Business Rate, amounting to $185 million savings over three years.
