FFHS Musical Revue Starts Tonight

By Randy Thoms Nov 10, 2022 | 9:44 AM

Fort Frances High School’s annual musical review opens tonight at the Townshend Theatre.

It’s called Can You Repeat the Question.

Music Teacher Lee-Ann Hines says all of the songs connect directly to the title.

“Every song either starts with the question, the title is a question or there’s a significant question somewhere in the song that will be featured,” says Hines.

Hines, with the help of Sherry Denby, selected the musical numbers for the students to perform.

Concert-goers will hear a wide array of musical genres.

“For the ensemble, they do four songs all together with everyone. Then there’s a song for the guys and a song for the girls. I had some songs that I wanted them to do, but I like to room for them to be able to select and suggest,” says Hines.

McKenna Ryll is one of the seniors to perform. She will sing a duet with Tamia Enge on Abba’s 1976 hit, Fernando. You will hear the question at the start of the song.

“In Grade 9, I wasn’t really sure I wanted to try out. I was too nervous. But this year, you know what? I’m going to do it. I’m going to do everything I can. My brother was a really big performer, so he kind of nudged me to try out, which I did. I’m really loving it because I made a lot of new friends,” says Ryll

Adriana McCoy is singing Mamma Mia, another big hit from Abba. You will find a number of questions put forward in that 1970s classic.
“One of the reasons I love taking part in shows like this is the community that we have and just getting to know all of the other students in different grades and just meeting everybody. It really creates this bond and this sense of community that you’re never going to lose,” says McCoy.

The curtain rises tonight, tomorrow and Saturday at 7 p.m. each night.

Tickets are available at the door.
