Thunder Bay Police are investigating an incident of vandalism, which they have determined was motivated by hate.

Sometime between the hours of 1:30 p.m. on July 29th and 10:27 a.m. July 30th a lone adult male broke into the Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Red River Road and vandalized the alter.

Evidence gathered by officers indicate the damage that was done to the alter was in a manner to deliberately disturb churchgoers. Further review by the TBPS’s Community Inclusion Team has concluded this to be consistent with a crime motivated by hate.

The investigation remains ongoing, anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
