Halifax Infirmary dealing with ‘serious’ overcrowding

By Steve MacArthur Nov 8, 2022 | 7:49 PM

QEII Halifax Infirmary

A serious situation at the QEII in Halifax.

Health officials tell us the Halifax Infirmary emergency department is experiencing major overcrowding.

You can expect long waits to continue into the weekend.

“Please do not hesitate to visit the QEII emergency department if you are experiencing an emergency. Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911.” – Nova Scotia Health

The health authority is asking people to try using virtual appointments (VirtualCareNS) and for emergencies to call 9-1-1.

Visit virtualcarens.ca to register or request a virtual visit but VirtualCareNS is not an emergency service.

For general health advice and information call 811, which is a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.

The provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
