A Yarmouth County Athletic Award medal (Yarmouth Recreation)

An event celebrating sports in our region will return in the new year.

Normally, the Yarmouth County Athletic Awards are held in early November.

This time, they’re taking place on January 12th at the Salle-Pere Maurice LeBlanc theatre in Tusket.

Yarmouth Recreation Director Frank Grant says this is the first ceremony since 2019.

“We are getting the ceremony back, to recognize all the athletes and teams, coaches and volunteers that have won at provincial play or higher,” says Grant.

A list of criteria is on Yarmouth Recreation’s website, along with a nomination form.

This is the 44th year for the ceremony.

It’s put on by the Yarmouth and Argyle Recreation departments.
