By Allan Dearing Nov 3, 2022 | 6:20 PM

A fourth person has been arrested in an ongoing investigation into a shot fired in downtown Moncton last week.

Codiac RCMP arrested a 39-year-old man from Moncton on Wednesday.

Ryan Michael Shanks appeared in court on Thursday and was charged with 21 offences including three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with a release order, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Monday for a bail hearing.

The charges stem from an incident on October 25 when Codiac RCMP officers responded to a gunshot which had been heard near the intersection of Main and Weldon Streets.

Police discovered an office building on Weldon Street appeared to have been struck by a bullet although there were no reports of injuries.

Three other individuals were also arrested in connection with the investigation.

A 51-year-old man from Grand-Barachois, a 32-year-old woman from Moncton and a 40-year-old man also from Moncton.

The woman and 51-year-old man were released on conditions pending future court dates.

On October 27, police executed a search warrant at a home on Savoie Street in Moncton as part of the investigation.

During the search, police seized a rifle, a loaded and unsecured handgun and revolver, two prohibited weapons, a substantial quantity of what is believed to be crystal meth along with fentanyl and various other drugs.
