The team at Port Saint John is a bit sad to see the end of the 2022 cruise ship season.

Customer Strategy Specialist Becky Knox said they were very excited about the how the community rallied around the cruise sector this year.

Saint John had 68 cruise ship visits this season.

“Ships were coming in over 80 per cent full in terms of passenger count. We were delighted about that,” Knox said.

The first cruise ship season in three years included some “firsts” like the new Crew Lounge in the Area 506 Waterfront Container Village.

“Not only did we just welcome back the industry as a whole which was a huge milestone for us after two difficult years without, the Area 506 Waterfront Container Village was
a really great addition for our cruise passengers. We welcomed our 3-millionth cruise passenger in Saint John this season. We also had 11 inaugural calls which really signals a strong message from the cruise lines that they are here to stay in the region and they want to keep calling on Saint John,” Knox said.

On Thursday, Norwegian Breakaway was the last ship to visit this season with its 4,000 guests.

The 2023 schedule will be released in January with the first ship due in port on May 7th.
