The Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association is in the running for a national award.

They’re nominated for the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s Floor13 Business Event Award.

YASTA was selected for hosting the Travel Media Association of Canada conference in June.

YASTA CEO Neil Mackenzie shared his feelings on being nominated.

“It was a lot of work for many partners and many volunteers to make the event happen and to pull it off,” says Mackenzie. “It’s great to see the region be recognized for all the work we’re doing as we build towards recovery. This is a great indication that we’re doing the right things.”

Mackenzie will attend the gala ceremony on November 23 in Ottawa.

He thanked everyone who helped bring the conference together.

“The main message is thank you, thank you, thank you,” says Mackenzie. “We couldn’t have done it without our regional partners, our municipal partners, all our funding partners, hotels and certainly the volunteers were the real kicker that pushed us over the top.”

He says they wouldn’t have been able to hold the event without the dedicated work of the volunteers.
