Additional Charges Laid In Connection With Gunshot Incident

A 40-year-old Moncton man is facing 26 additional offences in connection with an ongoing investigation into a shot fired in the Weldon Street area.

Jason Marc McGraw appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on October 27 and was charged with careless use of a firearm, discharging a firearm while being reckless, and being unlawfully at large.

He returned to court on October 31 and was charged with 26 additional charges, including multiple counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, multiple counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and several more weapons offences.

He remains behind bars and is scheduled to return to court on December 6, to enter a plea.

The charges stem from an investigation into an incident on October 25, when officers responded to a report of a gunshot.

Officers discovered an office building on Weldon Street appeared to have been struck by a bullet.

Three people have been arrested, a 51-year-old man from Grand-Barachois, a 32-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man, both from Moncton

The woman and 51-year-old man were released on conditions pending a future court appearance.

Police searched a Savoie Street home on October 27, where they seized a rifle, a loaded and unsecured handgun and revolver, two prohibited weapons, as well as what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine, and quantities of what is believed to be fentanyl and various other drugs.
