Government Says It’s Offered CUPE A Better Contract Offer

By Tim Davidson Oct 31, 2022 | 2:02 PM

The provincial government says it’s presented an increased offer for CUPE school workers.

Education Minister Steven Lecce says the enhanced deal was presented yesterday.

“The government has reached out to this specific union with the intent of offering a better deal,” Lecce told the Ontario Legislature Monday morning during Question Period.

“10 percent over four years, maintaining the best pensions and benefits and 131 days of sick leave.”

CUPE has indicated all 55,000 members will take strike action this Friday, but the government says it is introducing legislation to keep students in class.
