As many as nine members of the Fort Frances Muskies cross country running team have earned berths to the all-Ontario championship in Oshawa.

This after competing at the NWOSSA event in Thunder Bay yesterday.

The top finisher was Trent Wilson, who won the senior boys event.

He crossed the finish line 26 seconds ahead of the next competitor.

In the senior girls race, Leah Seguin was fifth, while teammate Chloe Dolyny was six seconds behind in sixth.

Rex Tolton was fifth in junior boys.

Miranda Wilson was fifth in junior girls, with Payton Dolyny finishing eighth.

William Yerxa was fifth in novice boys, with Parker Sisco in seventh.

Abby Waldner was eighth in the novice girls’ event.

 

On the court, the Rainy River Owls were swept by the Thomas Aquinas Saints in Kenora.

In girls’ basketball, the Owls’ senior team lost 45-33, while the juniors fell 35-26.

In boys’ volleyball, it was the Owls seniors being swept in three straight games while the juniors went down to defeat in two.

 

The International Falls Broncos varsity girls’ volleyball team is onto the next round of the Section 7AA playoffs after eliminating Two Harbors in three straight games.

The Broncos are scheduled to play at home on Friday against Mesabi East.
