A national recall is out for certain treadmills due to an issue where they unexpectedly change speed while you’re hitting your stride.

Health Canada has issued the alert for Horizon T101-05 Folding Treadmills after six injuries were reported in Canada since August 25th.

In the United States, the company has received 874 reports of units unexpectedly changing speed, including 71 reported injuries.

“The Treadmills have a running area that measures 55 inches long by 20 inches wide and have a 33-inch-wide console,” according to the recall.  “The model name and the serial number are located on the front of the motor cover near the power switch. The serial number starts with the letters ‘TM’.”

It’s recommended you stop using the treadmill immediately and contact Horizon Fitness for updated software.

Health Canada says nearly 7,000 affected products have been sold in Canada since August 2018.
