Yarmouth’s Main Street is a national award winner.
The town received a ‘5 Blooms – Gold’ rating for the streetscape at the national Communities in Bloom symposium in Victoria, B.C.
In a release, an awards judge says Main Street has an uplifting façade, and enhances the heritage of the area.
Mayor Pam Mood says she’s absolutely thrilled.
“The hard work of volunteers, our Communities in Bloom staff and to be recognized nationally for the work that’s been done, is absolutely huge,” says Mayor Mood.
Members of the local Communities in Bloom committee were in attendance to accept the award.
Mood says it’s not just about beautification.
“It’s about ensuring that our downtown is great, and that it works for everybody, and that nobody is marginalized. It shows that we’re on the right track.”
The town also received an outstanding achievement award for its landscaping.
