More help is on the way for Nova Scotians impacted by Hurricane Fiona.

The province has announced the Canadian Red Cross will receive $1.4 million.

The money will cover hotel costs for Nova Scotians who were forced out of their homes by the storm.

Community Services Minister Karla MacFarlane says many people have endured severe hardship in the aftermath of Fiona with recovery efforts ongoing.

The United Way of Pictou County will get $200,000 to help with emergency housing repairs.

The province has announced more than $40 million in assistance to help Nova Scotians and organizations cope with the recovery costs.
