93.1 The Border is asked candidates running for election a few questions about the reasons behind their decision to run.

Mike Hyatt is a candidate seeking to become a councillor with the township of LaVallee.

Here are the answers to the questions we asked.

Why are you running for office?

I am running for council to help my community with issues that arise from time to time.

What are the main issues you see your community facing over the next four years?

Roads seem to be the main issue. Flooding, snow removal and grading, plus visibility at intersections are other issues.

How would you tackle those issues?

These issues will require more man hours plus additional gravel, winter maintenance needs a better standard, so the roads do not become impassable.

What qualities or qualifications can you bring to the position?

I worked for the roads department for 17+ years, so I have a good understanding of all road-related issues. I hope to work with my council and reeve to make my township a better place to live and thrive.
