A 60-year-old Moncton man has died after he was hit by a delivery truck while cycling in the city around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Codiac RCMP, Moncton Fire, and Ambulance New Brunswick were called to Connaught Avenue at High Street after a report of a collision between a truck and a person on an electric bicycle.

Mounties say the man died at the scene from his injuries.

The driver of the truck wasn’t hurt.

At the time of the collision, it was raining lightly and leaves had fallen on the road.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the Coroner’s office continue to investigate.

Police say an autopsy will be performed to determine the man’s exact cause of death.

The section of Connaught Avenue from High Street to Wheeler Boulevard was closed for about six hours on Wednesday and traffic had to be diverted.
