Update issued at 2 p.m. on October 20th, 2022

The hold and secure has been lifted at a Dartmouth school.

Halifax Regional Police issued an update just after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday to announce the measure had been removed at Crichton Park Elementary School.

Police say there is no threat to public safety.

Two schools were also placed on hold and secure in the area on Wednesday, including John Martin Junior High and Woodlawn High.

The investigation is ongoing.

A Dartmouth school has been placed on a hold and secure with police asking the public to avoid the area.

Halifax Regional Police say the move has been put into place at Crichton Park Elementary School as a precaution.

The measure means the doors to the school are locked with classes still being held. Police are working closely with school officials.

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education has issued a Tweet to announce families have been notified.

Two schools were also placed on hold and secure in the area on Wednesday, including John Martin Junior High and Woodlawn High.

Police say further information will be provided when available.
