UPDATE: October 19th at 12:30 p.m.

The hold and secure at two Dartmouth schools has been lifted.

Halifax Regional Police announced the measure was removed for both Dartmouth High and John Martin Jr High schools just after noon on Wednesday.

Police say there is no threat to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing.

There’s a police presence at three Dartmouth area schools but it is not clear why.

John Martin Junior High and Woodlawn High are under hold and secure, which means the doors to the school are locked but classes are still going on.

Meantime, police are also in the area of Dartmouth High.

The public is being asked to stay away from those schools.

It comes after five Halifax area schools were placed under hold and secure due to a stabbing.

Police are still looking for the suspect in that incident.
