Your power bill could climb by 26 percent over the next few years due to soaring fuel costs.

Nova Scotia Power is out with an estimate on residential rates as requested by the province’s gas regulator.

The utility has already applied to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board for a rate increase of 13 percent.

That application does not include the impact of Nova Scotia Power’s increasing fuel bill on rates in 2024 and 2025.

It plans on recovering those costs through a separate application.

The utility predicts with that factored in, and no mitigation measures in place, residential rates could balloon by as much as 26 percent by 2025.
