Four-Day Work Week Begins For Many City Employees

By Brad Perry Oct 17, 2022 | 6:30 AM

Changes to customer service hours at the City of Saint John will begin on Monday, Oct. 17.

It comes as many municipal employees move to a compressed four-day work week.

The one-year trial, approved by council in September, will see employees work Monday to Thursday.

As a result, the Customer Service Centre, One Stop Development Shop and Community Services are now open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Fridays.

Online payments and other online services remain available seven days a week.

Emergency after-hours customer service will remain available, however, general inquiries and other non-emergency services will be addressed by the Customer Service Centre from Monday through Thursday.

Core municipal services will also continue throughout the week, including emergency services, parks and recreation, solid waste collection, Saint John Water, sewer treatment, Saint John Transit, parking enforcement, emergency road work, snow clearing, and the City Market.
