By Katie Nicholls Oct 14, 2022 | 12:36 PM

Ready for takeoff and prepared to land.

The Thunder Bay International Airports Authority (TBIAA) is ready to re-open the main runway tomorrow evening at 7pm.

After being closed since May for construction, the runway has been resurfaced as well as gotten upgraded storm sewers and new lighting.

Air Canada, Flair and Sunwing will all be scheduling flights respectively.

In a statement from the TBIAA, flights will resume over the next few weeks;

Air Canada will reintroduce Airbus service beginning on Wednesday, October 19. Flair Airlines will resume jet service on November 1. Sunwing is returning in December with sun spot charter service.

The runway is re-opening two weeks ahead of schedule. It was originally slated to open back up at the end of October.
