The response to Hurricane Fiona was front and centre at the legislature today.

Liberal leader Zach Churchill called on the Premier to make sure more resources are available for the next big storm.

“We are hearing from effected individuals that more needs to be done, particularly on the human resources side for removal of debris but also for processing of applications and supporting people with those applications.”

Premier Tim Houston responded by saying the opposition should have joined them in calling for aid.

“The opposition missed a beautiful opportunity to get behind the government in support of Nova Scotians in calling on the federal government for additional military support and for boots on the ground. They chose to politicize the recovery.”

He says Fiona was a chance for the parties to work together.
