Cyclist Killed After East Side Crash

A collision on the east side resulted in the death of a young man on Thursday.

Members of the Saint John Police Force were called to a crash near the 400 block of Westmorland Road around 2 p.m.

It was reported that a cyclist and a commercial delivery truck were involved in a collision.

Emergency first aid was provided at the scene to a 21-year-old man who was on the bicycle.

He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said no other physical injuries were reported.

The identity of the cyclist is not being released at this time.

Several units were called in to assist including traffic reconstruction, forensic services and the Major Crime unit.

Investigators want to hear from witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash camera footage or video surveillance of the incident when it occurred.
