Fiona had a major impact along the coastlines of the Northumberland Strait and Gulf of St. Lawrence but New Brunswick fared better than Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia according to the province’s Crown utility.

NB Power acting president and CEO Lori Clark said damage to its infrastructure was minimal.

She noted about 50 utility poles came down during the storm.

“It was very isolated in the province. We did experience some power outages across the province but they were higher in the Moncton, Shediac and Acadian Peninsula area.”

Clark added the restoration effort was done quickly which allowed NB Power to send its crews where they were needed elsewhere in the region.
