The Yarmouth Mariners put up ten goals on the nationally-ranked Timberwolves on Saturday night.
Yarmouth won the game 10-3 in front of over 1,000 fans at Mariners Centre.
Alex Roode got a hat-trick and Jerome Nadeau scored twice.
It followed a tough 3-2 loss on home ice Friday to the Ramblers.
Speaking after Saturday’s game, assistant coach Jared Purdy said they were happy with the weekend.
“We came on the wrong end of a hot goalie (Friday) night. We played great, but just came up short. The boys were very hungry coming into this game.” said Purdy.
The Mariners are 3-3 to start the season.
Purdy says it was exciting to have a nationally ranked team come into town.
“The crowd was great, the energy was there. To have over 1,000 people cheering us on made for a great win heading into Thanksgiving.”
The Mariners wore their pink jerseys over the weekend for ‘Pink in the Rink,’ a fundraiser for the cancer centre in Yarmouth.
The team hits the road to New Brunswick this weekend against Grand Falls and Edmundston.
