Police have discovered human remains after a search in the Springfield area.
Investigators started searching a property on Hastings Road on October 8, and that’s when they found the person.
Police tell us the search is part of an ongoing investigation and that there’s no risk to the public.
Reports to our newsroom on Saturday told us RCMP were searching near a softball field over the past three days and an excavator was brought in as part of the work.
Police were seen at the New Germany field on Friday and were at the Springfield diamond on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
It’s believed some evidence was collected in New Germany but those reports are unconfirmed.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Office is now involved to identify the remains and investigators are continuing to collect information and evidence.
Police could not confirm the identity of the remains when asked by our newsroom.
