Man facing assault charges involving paramedic at QEII

A paramedic was not injured but police had to get involved with an aggressive patient at the QEII in Halifax.

Emergency Health Services (EHS) reported a man was physically aggressive and throwing objects, striking a paramedic.

The patient had originally been brought to the hospital by ambulance.

Police arrived and arrested the man soon after they got the call about the situation.

A 33-year-old man from Halifax is now facing various charges, including assault.

“Incidents such as these are becoming more and more common – and it has to stop. Violence against paramedics cannot and will not be tolerated. We will support our member and their family in any way we can.” Nova Scotia Paramedics IUOE Local 727

The incident unfolded at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The person charged will appear in court soon.
