Trunk or Treat Needs Donations

The popular Trunk or Treat is back for another year.

The annual Hallowe’en treat giveaway returns at the Fort Frances Public Library on October 31.

The event has attracted hundreds of young ghouls and goblins each year.

Last year, the event ran out short of treats to hand out.

Event spokesperson Joan MacLean says they are anticipating another strong turnout.

“Yeah, a lot of kids. But with donations down, we’re really going to need people to donate because donations were down last year. So you if plan on coming. Hopefully, you can bring some candy as well or make a donation,” says MacLean.

The group did receive a grant from Enbridge, which will be put to buying treats.

Donations of treats or cash can be made at the library.

“We’re ready with our list at the front desk. You just have to come in and leave it at the front desk. We’ll take your name, ask you if you want to have your name published in our thank you list, and you can either leave some money or a box of candy or whatever,” says MacLean.

You can also register a trunk.

You do that through the library’s website.

MacLean says four trunks have already registered and is expecting more in the coming days.

With COVID restrictions, some of the events at previous events will be back.

MacLean says this includes activities inside the library.

“There’s going to be a selfie photo booth so you can do whatever you like, have people take your pictures or do a selfie, and there’s going to be games and things for the children in the children’s area.”
