RCMP Investigating Homicide In Elsipogtog

A homicide is under investigation in Elsipogtog First Nation after Mounties say a man was fatally stabbed.

Around 6 a.m. Friday, Elsipogtog and Richibucto RCMP members were called to an altercation at a home on Oak Street in Elsipogtog First Nation.

Police arrived to find a 36-year-old man from the community suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Officers administered first aid until ANB paramedics arrived.

Police say the man died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Later Friday, a 46-year-old man from Elsipogtog First Nation was arrested in the community and a weapon was located and seized by police.

An autopsy has been scheduled to help determine the man’s exact cause of death.

Police are investigating the man’s death as a homicide.

Mounties would like to speak to anyone in the area of Oak Street and Graham Road in Elsipogtog First Nation who may have video surveillance or dash cam footage or anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious between midnight and 9 a.m. on October 7.
