Fort Frances Muskies court teams took three of four contests against the Dryden Eagles in Dryden

The junior girls’ basketball team defeated the Eagles 33-25, while the seniors dropped a 35-12 decision.

In boys’ volleyball, the juniors won in three games, while the seniors needed five games in their win over Dryden.

Scores in the junior contest were 25-18, 25-12, and 29-27.

Scores in the senior game were 28-26, 23-25, 16-25, 25-17 and 15-11.

 

Fort Frances Muskies cross country teams dominated the podium in Dryden.

Their runners won all but two divisions at the Turkey Trot races.

Gage McKinnon was first in the Grade 7 and 8 boys division. Willem Kirk was third.

In the Novice boys division, Parker Sisco was first, with William Yerxa in second.

It was a sweep of the top three positions in junior girls, with Payton Dolyny in first, Miranda Wilson in second and Brooklyn Machura in third.

Rex Tolton took first in junior boys, with Ben Gosman in second.

Leah Seguin was first in front of Chloe Dolyny and Alexia Gate in the senior girls’ division.

Trent Wilson was first in the senior boys’ race.

Logan Neurinski placed second in the girls’ 7/8 division, while Abby Waldner had a second-place finish in novice girls.

The event featured over 500 athletes from schools in Fort Frances, Dryden, Kenora, Ignace and Sioux Lookout.

International Falls Broncos varsity girls volleyball team swept Littlefork-Big Falls in three games by scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-10, 25-5, 25-9.

The juniors won 25-8 and 25-14.

The grade 8 and grade 7 teams were also victorious in straight sets.

In football, the Broncos junior football team ended their regular season with a 28-10 win over Mesabi East.

 

Sweet Digs racked up two more straight-set wins to stay perfect in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League.

How I Set Your Mother and Invasion also scored a pair of wins.

Setzy Bits, Mission Unblockable, Volley Llamas, Northern Flyers, Pass and Hitties and Serves You Right all went 1-1 on the night.

The Fort Frances Lakers open a two-game homestand with the Dryden GM Ice Dogs at the Ice For Kids Arena at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Fort Frances Muskies football team is in Winnipeg, facing St. John’s, while the International Falls Broncos football team is at Greenway.
