Muskies’ Golfer Wins in Thunder Bay

A golfer from Fort Frances High School has struck gold in Thunder Bay.

Logan McPherson was first in the girls’ division at the NWOSSA golf championships in Thunder Bay.

She finished nine strokes better than the second-place finisher from Thunder Bay.

Available results suggest it is the time a Fort Frances H.S. golfer has won the NWOSSA championship.

McPherson’s teammates Marlee and Maddy Bliss tied for fourth.

Ella Evans was six strokes behind them in sixth place.

In the boys’ division, Noah McPherson had the best finish among the Muskies in eleventh, eleven strokes back of the winning golfer from Thunder Bay.

Others taking part were Taylor Chown tying for 15th, Ashton Barnes tying for 18th, Kade Oster tying for 23rd, Jackson Tucker finished 36th, AJ Armstrong and Evan Wright tied for 40th, Alex Booth tied for 50th, and Teagan Wrolstad and Maverick Morrisseau tied for 52nd.

In the team standings, the Muskies Team One finished fourth while Team Two placed eighth.

 

On the courts, the Northern Lakers senior girls basketball team won their first of the season by defeating the Rainy River Owls 23-10.

 

The International Falls Broncos varsity girls’ volleyball team beat Chisholm 3-games to one.

Scores were 25-18, 21-25, 25-13 and 25-21.

The junior varsity team lost two games to one by scores of 16-25, 25-20 and 7-15.

The grade 8 team won two games to one by scores of 25-19, 20-25 and 15-4.
