Minnesota’s Koochiching County preliminary budget is coming in with a 14 per cent increase in the tax levy.
County Administer Betsy Zaren says efforts to keep expenditures down were made as best as they could.
“That reflects some administration cuts, adjustments, no new funding requests, and keeping the request at the 2022 levels,” says Zaren.
“Due to the increase in the tax base, the county tax rate is less than 2022 because we went from 11 million to 14 million with our tax base,” says Zaren.
The numbers are still preliminary.
Final approval of the budget won’t come until December.
