As clean up efforts from Hurricane Fiona continue in the CBRM, Cape Breton Regional Police are warning that any travel on the roadways should be limited, and for essential reasons only. Traffic congestion makes it harder for emergency and clean up crews to conduct their work. There are still many hazards on the roadsĀ and motorists that need to travel for work, an appointment, or to get to a comfort shelter should do so carefully, be mindful of their surroundings, and expect delays.
You are also asked to pull to the side of the road to allow emergency vehicles to pass. Ensure your vehicle does not block intersections or driveways, avoid leaving your vehicle unattended when in line for services such as fuel as this could lead to your car getting towed, and to try to access services during nonpeak hours when there is less traffic.
The Cape Breton Regional Police would like to thank everyone for their cooperation.
