The Federal Government is out with an update on it’s efforts to help Atlantic Canada recover from Hurricane Fiona.

Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc reassured communities affected that their aid will continue.

“The Government of Canada is always ready to assist provinces in the cleanup and recover efforts that will take place not only over the coming days but over the coming weeks and months.”

Minister of National Defense Anita Anand says the Canadian Armed Forces are continuing to provide support provincially and locally.

“The support includes regular force and reserve force personnel as well as Canadian Rangers from the Atlantic region, many of whom are working in their home communities.”

She says there are over 100 armed forces deployed each in Nova Scotia, P.E.I and Newfoundland and Labrador.

In Nova Scotia, members are helping clear debris and are operating out of Cape Breton.
