Fiona won’t have the same impact in the Tri-Counties, but it’s going to still bring heavy rains and high winds.

The Yarmouth Regional Emergency Management Organization will be monitoring conditions, power outages and potential flooding.

Coordinator Shane Strong says it’s important to be prepared.

“We have areas that are prone to flooding, even with light rain. Once the storm starts, I would just stay in my house, and enjoy my storm chips. That’s my advice to residents,” says Strong.

Strong says if they need to open a comfort centre, they will.

He says they don’t foresee any evacuations for our area.

He says the ‘Alertable’ app is free to download, and has emergency bulletins for Yarmouth County.
