The QEII Foundation is announcing their largest, single donation to date.

They say $20 million has been donated by the MacDonald family to help transform cancer care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.

The donation will be used to support advanced cancer care technology, like personalized radiotherapy, which is being developed at the QEII.

The donation was made by the MacDonald family in honour of their late parents, Colin and Belle.

A new cancer care centre being developed will be named after them.

Belle MacDonald was the head nurse for many years at the former Halifax Infirmary hospital.

QEII Foundation president and CEO Susan Mullin says the donation raises the bar in delivering the world’s best cancer care right in Nova Scotia.

The Foundation is also working to transform health care at the QEII through their $100 million We Are campaign.
