In the last few months, a Moncton city councillor has been getting a lot of complaints about the smell from the Organigram facility.

The cannabis producer is located in the industrial park and complaints have come from Centennial Place and the New West End.

Charles Leger represents Ward 2 which includes the neighbourhood.

He told Council that residents were asked to start a log about the smell this summer in which they would record a time and date and even wind direction.

Leger forwarded the log to Organigram last week but said he hasn’t heard back from the company yet.

“With a new school being built on the McNaughton site, there is some concern. Probably the air quality is okay, but the smell is probably not okay for many, so I’m hoping that we would be able to find a solution.”

City staff have been working with the province in terms of air quality.

Leger said he would to like to have an update from staff at the next council meeting.
