A power outage in the St. Martins area has forced the early dismissal of one local school.

The Anglophone South School District says St. Martins School will be closing early.

According to NB Power, more than 1,000 homes and businesses are without power.

Communities affected include Bains Corner, Bay View, Fairfield, Gardner Creek, Orange Hill, Rowley, St. Martins, St. Martins North, Tynemouth Creek, West Quaco, and Willow Grove.

The estimated restoration time is between 2 and 3 p.m. Tuesday.
